Conventional methods rely on conductive and convective methods for heat transfer but these methods causes the end product to have a poor quality and high possibility of contamination. For example, if we are doing solar drying, many time food products are not able to dry completely during sun hours, and if the same is left for next day drying, there is very high chance of fungal growth.
This leads to the development of dryers that have the capacity for more efficient and reliable drying techniques such as
electrical tray dryers, heat pump based dehydrators. These technique removes the moisture and preserves properties such as texture, colour, taste and flavour of driedproducts.

Operating Cost qadorison
Energy saving is a major feature and advantage oi heat pump dryers. Compared with gas-burning drying experiments show that heat pump drying can save 40%-70% energy when drying wood at low temperature (15-45°C), 50% when drying cloth sheets and up to 90% when drying vegetables (dehvdration). When drving rice with heat pump dryers at 35 to 50 C temperatures, heat pump drying efficiency is significantly improved over the efficiency of the traditional drying method.
